The World’s Highest Bridge

with 4 comments

The highest bridge in the world is the Millau Viaduct in Southern France. It’s highest point is 1,125 feet high, which is higher than the Eiffel Tower and only 125 feet shorter than the Empire State Building.

It was built as part of a plan to make the quickest possible road from Paris to Spain. It shortened the distance by 60 miles because otherwise you’d have to wind your way down a mountain, across the valley, and then back up another mountain. And who has time for all that? Certainly not Europeans. I heard they don’t even have speed limits.

Okay, enough words. If you want more, check it out on Wikipedia.

How freakin’ awesome is this picture? (Click it for the full size image)
