Hockey Sucks And I Can Prove It

Every time I post something about how much hockey sucks, I get people leaving comments about how I just don’t get it.
Yeah, okay. I’m the one who’s out of touch.
I did a little Googling, and here are the results of an ESPN survey of how people (in the US) rank spectator sports by popularity….
* NFL (National Football League)
* NBA (National Basketball Association)
* MLB (Major League Baseball)
* NCAA football (college football)
* NCAA basketball (college basketball)
* NASCAR (stock car racing)
* WWE (professional wrestling)
* NHL (National Hockey League)
* AFL (Arena Football League)
* WNBA (Women’s National Basketball Association)
* MLS (Major League Soccer)
* IRL (Indy Racing League)
Not only does the NHL come in behind NASCAR, where all you do is go left for 500 miles, but it also ranks lower than wrestling. And wrestling is totally FAKE.
A bunch of dudes in tights reading from a script is more popular than the NHL.
Case closed.

yeah - this coming from a dumbass who thinks twitter is cool. Soccer is the most watched sport in the world but the leagues in the US keep on failing. Just because you think somthing isn’t relevant doesn’t mean it isn’t liked by many other people. Plus there’s 33 million people just to the North of us that would disagree with you.
And that poll is just ESPN. Do you know how many people don’t look at ESPN? Do another search at the most watched sports in the US and you will see that NASCAR is the 2nd most watched sport in America. Just cause you don’t like it, doesn’t mean the rest of the world doesn’t like it also.
I don’t actually think Twitter is cool…I totally admit that it’s geeky as hell. I’m not afraid to admit that I’m a nerd.
You’re the one who’s trying to act that everyone in the world likes hockey.
I’ll concede the 33 million people to the north, but don’t try to base the popularity of a sport on a bunch of “eh holes” who wish they were French. I’ll stick with the other 5.967 billion people thanks.
I know there’s a lot of people who don’t watch ESPN. But sports fans do, and that’s what we’re talking about here.
Obviously sports fans don’t go to ESPN.com cause then NASCAR would have been a lot higher on the popularity chart…
First off sorry about the dumbass comment. That was a little much. But really I just don’t like your attitude towards something that is unfamiliar to you or towards something you don’t like. Never in any of my comments have I stated that everyone in the world likes and/or watches hockey. I could care less if they do. Nor am I trying to dissuade your thoughts that hockey is a popular sport in or outside of Canada. That’s irrelevant and not my point. The point is you think hockey is a dumb sport because you don’t like it. You didn’t say: I don’t understand hockey, I don’t have any interest in hockey, I don’t get any enjoyment out of watching hockey. You said hockey sucks. Plain and simple. This coming from your vast amount of playing time as a kid and the countless hockey games you’ve attended. As for comparing it to NASCAR and wrestling. NASCAR drivers endure 4+ hours of sitting in a 190 degree oven in a nomex flame resistant suit while trying to drive 190mph+ with cars inches to their left and right. They hit the weightroom 6 days a week to keep their bodies in shape for the rigors of racing. That being said I still hate watching NASCAR - not because what they do isn’t athletic or skillful but because it isn’t interesting watching them drive around “making left hand turns” for 4 hours. The WWE should have never been included in the survey as it is not a sport. It is athletic stunts performed by actors. So comparing hockey to wrestling is like saying hockey is a worse sport then broadway. Great logic there.
On that we agree…hockey is a way better sport than broadway
And just because Baywatch is the most watched television show in the world doesn’t mean that it’s good. All this ESPN poll proves is that Americans live up their reputation of being morons.
Thats in the US in Canada hockey is probably 1
